New Art Projects is delighted to present ‘Hunting Razorbills’, a new solo show by Kadie Salmon featuring a remarkable series of 9 hand colour photographs shown alongside a three-screen video work.

Artist book and accompanying publication

with poet Klara du Plessis

 

In Spring 2021, Kadie was artist in residence at ARTEXTE research centre in Montreal. Over 6 weeks she worked collaboratively with poet Klara du Plessis on their project 'Narrative of process: activating the artist’s book'- resulting in their artist books 'Incipit', 'Scree' and 'Explicit' and talk 'Sculpture Poem: In Conversation'. Incipit. Scree. Explicit is currently on show at ARTEXTE (April-June 2023). An accompanying publication that documents the work and includes 20 sonnets and 20 colour images is available as a limited edition.

Light's Trace
Exhibition at A.P.T Gallery (4th-7th August 2022)

Light traces dimensions onto flat surfaces, impressing moving scenes onto paper frames and palpable planes. Photographs stabilise the dynamism of vision into an experience that slows time, enabling us to extend our gaze. In Light’s Trace, Kadie Salmon and Caroline Jane Harris manipulate their photographic equipment’s technical intentions, embracing them as modes of artistic expression that foreground the hand of the maker and undermine representationalism.

'Restlessly Idling'-Interview with Anneka French for Photomonitor
 
"Kadie Salmon is best known for large-scale black and white photographs, hand-tinted to give a dream-like luminosity, sometimes folded into sculptural forms. Salmon’s works feature figures in remote landscapes, and she uses her own body as model, often repeated multiple times.

In response to the Covid-19 lockdown and a postponed solo exhibition, Salmon recently launched a digital publication covering works from 2014-2020 in collaboration with New Art Projects. Anneka French finds out more."
